Men's Discipleship
PURPOSE STATEMENT: Brother’s Keepers are dedicated to reaching and serving those without. Teaching and discipling those within. Building relationship with God and our brothers for the purpose of growing in spiritual maturity and service for God. Turning our world upside down for Jesus!
Our responsibility is to capture and sustain what has been created.
To do that we have done the following:
- Create a team with four areas, or steps, of ministry (seeMen's Team Flow Chart). Within each of those four areas, are sub-ministries. Someone with the help of others in the specific sub-areas directs each area of ministry. This helps to create a ministry that is team-oriented, continuing to build leaders and helps to avoid the trap of a personality-driven ministry.
- Create a plan that is balanced in its effort to minister to men, thus leaving no man left behind. Balanced also in creating opportunities for men to minister to others, thus using those God-given gifts, fulfilling that God-given purpose. This helps to avoid the trap of an event-driven ministry and instead creates a purpose-driven ministry, with the big picture in mind.
- Create an all-inclusive ministry to men mindset. In other words, Men’s Ministry is not limited to only the men that meet on Thursday night. The total male population of the church is the total population of the Men’s Ministry. They don’t have to be part of our “group”, to be men ministering. If they are caring for children in the nursery, singing in the choir, etc, and he’s a man, well that’s a man in ministry. This helps to avoid the “us versus them” mentality. It solves the, do I belong? Question and avoids “turf battles”. Most importantly, it maximizes the Kingdom potential of every interaction the church has with every man.
