What is the purpose of the Rise! Build! Reach! Stewardship Campaign?
The purpose of this campaign is to enable Shiloh Christian Ministries to continue rising, building, and reaching. Shiloh has come to a point where our current facility is at its maximum utilization and is inadequate to serve the needs of our congregation and community. The purpose of this new Stewardship Campaign is to raise the funds necessary to complete our currently rising new facility. We believe the elements contained in this campaign will provide the needed facilities to reach people that we are not reaching now and will increase our capacity to serve the existing and future congregation.
Is there a Scriptural basis for this type of campaign?
Yes. The Bible gives examples of special projects that challenged God’s people to give extra offerings in addition to what they normally gave. (See Exodus 25 and Exodus 35, I Chronicles 28-29).
What do you mean when you refer to Stage I & Stage II?
We have an enormous vision for our Avenida del Sol location. Ultimately, we see more than one building at that site. Currently we are constructing “Building number 1” or Phase I of the envisioned complex. This first phase has a Stage I budget and a Stage II budget. Stage I refers to the complete outer walls, roof, and footprint of the building shown in our pictures, plus paving, required landscaping, as well as the entire center portion, which is the worship center. Stage II will finish the classrooms and offices in both wings, to include additional restrooms, furnishings, fixtures and equipment.
When will Phase I be completed?
We are currently contracted and funded through the end of May 2009 for Stage I of Phase I. Please realize that this is a projected date and that all matter of things could lengthen this time frame. Stage II of Phase I, once funded and contracted is projected to be completed in three months time.
What will it take for our campaign to succeed?
If each of us will pray, search the Scriptures and respond in obedience, not only will our campaign be successful, but more importantly, we will accomplish the purposes God has for us as individuals and as a ministry.
Are campaign gifts over and above my normal tithes, missions and other offerings?
Yes! They must be! Our normal operating expenses must continue to be met by your faithful tithes and offerings on a regular basis. Your over and above gifts will allow us to accomplish the specific goals of the Stewardship Campaign.
When will we be asked to make our commitments?
Everyone at Shiloh will be asked to prayerfully consider how God would have them participate in the Stewardship Campaign. The Leadership of the church will be asked to make preliminary commitments prior to the entire congregation. The entire congregation will then be asked to respond in obedience to God’s direction for them at a special Altar of Commitment time on Sunday, March 8, 2009.
What is the length of time of campaign commitments?
The campaign commitments will be for a three-year period beginning on Sunday, March 8, 2009.
In addition to cash, can my gift include non-cash assets such as stocks or other assets?
Yes! A recent study concludes that only 14% of Americans’ assets are in cash. The vast majority of our assets are represented by such things as appreciated property, stocks and other non-cash items. Making non-cash contributions not only helps the church reach it’s
financial and ministry goals, but often provides positive tax benefits to the donor as well. For further information on this issue, please contact Judy Hefty at (520) 459-2828.
What is meant by “equal sacrifice, not equal giving”?
Everyone in Shiloh has different giving potential due to the nature of their work and financial situations. While the amount we each can give will vary, we should each be challenged to give faithfully with equal sacrifice towards fulfilling the vision.
How much will I be expected to give?
There is no set formula, “no my fair share”. Each of us should begin to seek the Lord for direction on how much He desires to provide through us. Our giving should be above our tithe and offerings and should be our best possible gift that is an act of faith on our part. Will financial commitments be made public? No! This is not a giving strategy we ever intend to employ here at Shiloh Christian Ministries. While the leadership and congregational total commitments will be made public, individual commitments will not be made public.
Can commitments be changed, if necessary?
Yes! You may either increase or decrease your faith commitment at any time as the Lord lead us or as circumstances make it convenient or necessary. Your pledge is a “faith promise” that you believe God will provide through you. Your giving is a covenant between you and God.
What if we raise more or less than the desired goal?
The tenet of Shiloh Christian Ministries has always been to lovingly encourage our wonderful church family to “give as much as they can as quickly as they can” in order for our vision projects to move forward. We will rise and finish building the needed facilities for reaching the community as the resources are provided.
What will happen with our current facility?
Our current facility is on the market already, we hope to sell it soon.
Will new members be given an opportunity to join the campaign commitment journey?
Yes! New members and friends will be encouraged to join Shiloh’s commitment journey as we together fulfill the mission and vision God has given to all of us.
Can we do this?
Shiloh, the vision is great and the need is great, but God in us is Greater! The new building is absolutely essential to our ability to be a Lighthouse ministry in our new community. We are a people of great faith, dedication and commitment and by God’s grace, and our obedience we will meet this challenge. Thank you for praying, giving and joining us in this spiritual journey that will end with us declaring, “Look what the Lord has done!”
